Your message didn't have a Package: line at the start (in the pseudo-header following the real mail header), or didn't have a psuedo-header at all.

This makes it much harder for us to categorise and deal with your problem report; please ensure that you say which package(s) and version(s) the problem is with next time. Some time in the future the problem reports system may start rejecting such messages.

Subject: ld.so breaks debian 1.3 upgrade.

I was about to upgrade to debian 1.3. Read the neccesary changes
from the file README.txt, and after executing

dpkg --clear-avail
dpkg -i ldso_*.deb

no more dpkg actions succeed :-(( They all say

dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 1:
invalid package name (must start with an alphanumeric)

no matters what the file contains.

The version of dpkg working in the system is 1.4.0.5

I suspect of ld.so, as dpkg worked before without a glitch.

Please mail me the way to override the problem.

Thanks.

As this bug is only there when upgrading to Debian 1.3, it can
be closed it when hamm is released if it doesn't exist in hamm.
