New bug report received and forwarded.
Your message didn't have a Package: line at the start (in the
pseudo-header following the real mail header), or didn't have a
psuedo-header at all.
This makes it much harder for us to categorise and deal with your
problem report; please ensure that you say which package(s) and
version(s) the problem is with next time. Some time in the future the
problem reports system may start rejecting such messages.

Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Hopefully this isn't a duplicate. I did check, but may have missed the
essential entry...
Recently I upgraded from Debian 1.2 to 1.3.1. Initially, I followed the
instructions to upgrade dpkg as noted in the CD's README and then
installed a few selected packages. This worked quite well.
However, I decided to upgrade all of the currently installed packages
from the CD. After selecting them, I first removed a couple (an IBM
terminal emulator and a X server I don't use) then selected to install.
The install printed the following:
internal error - no file name at -e line 12, <P> chunk 16.
installation script returned error exit status 1
I exited and reran dselect and even changed a few package selections in
a failed attempt to work around the problem. As it is, I cannot use
dselect for package management without getting this error.
1. How might I work around the problem for a short term solution?
2. What more information could I provide to help track down the problem?
Thanks,
Dave

Message #14 received at 11631@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.19
While upgrading to
netbase_2.15-1.deb and netstd_2.15-1.deb
with dpkg-mountable, it cried that predependecies are not yet supported,
and I changed install method to install by "previously mounted partition".
Then the only output of step 3 was:
internal error - no filename at -e line 12, <P> chunk 18.
installation script returned error exit status 1.
Press RETURN to continue.
After I went through steps 0-3 of dselect again, everything is OK.
My system is upgraded quite frequently.
I started about Debian 1.1, I think.
