Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.8
When I run dpkg-shlibdeps (from the makefile or from the command line) in
a shell created with "open bash" it always dies with this error:
dpkg-shlibdeps: failure: chown of `debian/substvars.new': No such file or directory
debian/substvars.new exists, the problem is that the array @fowner, created in
/usr/lib/dpkg/controllib.pl is empty:
md@wonderland:3:/var/src/Packages/binkd-0.9.1$perl -e "@ff=(getpwnam(getlogin()))[2,3];print @ff;"
md@wonderland:3:/var/src/Packages/binkd-0.9.1$
There is not difference in running it with or without sudo.
If I run it in a shell spawned by login it works, and dpkg-shlibdeps works too.
Perl version is 5.003.07-10.

Message #10 received at 12417-done@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
I can't reproduce this problem, and looking at the current dpkg-shlibdeps
it should be fixed.
Wichert.
