Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.19
Severity: critical
The stable and unstable tree now contain a main directory.
This seems like a good idea, but dpkg should be updated
to reflect this.
Thank you for your time looking into this mater.
Severity set to `normal'.

Message #12 received at 13303@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.22
The "disk" method speaks about binary/ and stable/ instead of
binary-i386/ and main/ (or maybe dists/stable/main, but better not,
to give people choice of stable or unstable ditstributions).
It says:
---
Last time you said `/hda1/dists', but that doesn't look plausible,
since `/hda1/dists/stable/binary' doesn't seem to exist.
---
and suchlike, moreover it insists, that the main be called stable,
so I have to make links, etc..
This has been reported in #13303, but it's still there.:)

Message #21 received at 13303-done@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Hi,
dselect used to spew out a message like...
---
Last time you said `/hda1/dists', but that doesn't look plausible,
since `/hda1/dists/stable/binary' doesn't seem to exist.
---
...because...
"The "disk" method speaks about binary/ and stable/ instead of
binary-i386/ and main/..."
...but that shouldn't happen anymore because the code generating that
message now looks like...
[from <dpkg-src>/methods/disk.setup in 1.10.28,
and <dpkg-src>/dselect/methods/disk/setup in 1.13.22]
echo "
Last time you said \`$p_hierbase', but that doesn't look plausible,
since \`$p_hierbase/main/binary-$iarch' doesn't seem to exist."
fi
...so, it appears the report was dealt with but not closed,
doing so now.
