Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.8
Severity: grave
This dpkg is the included with debian-1.3.1, cleanly installed.
I have made a package with the ptolemy software, and while testing
it, dpkg breaks with the message:
"corrupted tar filesystem"
First I though it was because of the size of the package (110 Mbs
uncompressed) but while splitting it into pieces I found it to be a
problem with the files.
This debug info was obtained by running
dpkg -D11 -i ptolemy-dev-data1-0.7-1.deb
I only include here the last lines, as the whole info is 1.7Mbs
I posted a message asking for help in debian-devel, and it was said
that dpkg´s implementation of tar does not admit filenames too big.
Please send me an urgent solution, as the release of this package can´t
wait... :-(
Thanks very much.
