Subject: dpkg: get default answer for "updated configuration file" from conffile
Date: Sun, 23 Nov 1997 19:03:55 +0100 (CET)
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.19
Severity: wishlist

When dpkg upgrades a package who's configuration files have been changed
(either locally or in the package) it stops processing and asks the user
if he/she wants the conffile to be replaced, saved with another name, etc.

It would be nice if the answer to that question could be stored in a
global configuration file (say /etc/dpkgrc). If that file is present and
if it contains such a setting, dpkg should use this answer and continue
with the configuration without stopping.

(I always answer with `N' to the question and check for `*.dpkg-dist' file
after upgrading since I want to make a changes to the conffiles myself.)

Thanks,

Chris
