Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.19
This came up while installing kernel-headers-2.0.32_2.0.32-3; I thought it was the install script that called gcc, but it turns out to be dpkg:
$ dpkg --print-architecture
dpkg (subprocess): failed to exec C compiler `gcc': No such file or directory
dpkg: subprocess gcc --print-libgcc-file-name returned error exit status 2
-- System Information
Debian Release: 1.3
Kernel Version: Linux pc47 2.0.29 #1 Mon May 26 09:25:51 EST 1997 i486 unknown
Versions of the packages dpkg depends on:
libc6 Version: 2.0.6-2
libg++272 Version: 2.7.2.8-0.1
ncurses3.4 Version: 1.9.9g-7
