Subject: dselect no longer resizes inside xterm
Date: 02 Feb 1998 08:40:55 -0500
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.20

The dselect selection screen no longer resizes when its xterm is
resized. This is a recently introduced bug since dselect version
1.4.0.8 (from bo) which works correctly, even when run from hamm.

To reproduce, make a tall xterm, choose "2. [S]elect", press [space].
Note the blue separator bar across the middle. Shrink the height of
the xterm by half. The blue separator bar is now at the bottom. With
dselect version 1.4.0.8, the selection screen resizes, placing the
blue separator bar back in the middle. (Note that this is more than
just a problem of unequal sharing of the screen between the top and
bottom sections. After resizing the xterm, the two sections write
over each other while scrolling.

Subject: Should dpkg-iwj bugs be closed.

I filed bug #17748 against dpkg over two years ago, and it was
reassigned to dpkg-iwj by Ben Collins last fall.

Does dpkg-iwj actually exist as a package?

Should bugs against it be closed?

The current dpkg package does not display symptoms of this bug. If it
would help bring them to closure, I would volunteer to step through
the bugs open against dpkg-iwj, verifying that they do not manifest
themselves in the current dpkg package.

It exists as a CVS tree, not as an actual package. I expect that I some
point iwj will officialy declare it a dead branch and close all its
bugs.

I think that Ben and I were already reasonably thorough in checking that
all bugs were fixed before reassigning them. There are also a couple in
there that are basically requests for a design overhaul that will probably
not happen in dpkg anyway.

Wichert.

I hereby officially declare it a dead branch.

I'll close the bugs when I get round to it.

I might want to preserve some of those.

Ian.
