Message #5 received at maintonly@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.20
Severity: wishlist
Currently, maintainers of shared library packages must ensure that the .so
-> .so.version link follows the .so.version file. This is done more or less
"by hand" relying on the fact that dpkg-deb uses tar, and the way tar deals
with directory entries, and the way directory entries are created.
I would like to see dpkg-deb's behaviour changed to include symlinks after
the files they point to, so this problem is solved once and for all.
