Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.10 (i386 elf)
bell# dpkg --version
Debian Linux `dpkg' package management program version 1.4.0.19 (i386 elf).

see the GNU General Public Licence version 2 or later for copying

I have created a package exec.deb using the command
bell# dpkg --build exec
which completes without any errors. When I try to install the package, I
get this message, which does not appear to be documented anywhere:
bell# dpkg -i exec.deb
(Reading database ... 25477 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking executor (from exec.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing exec.deb (--install):
corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
exec.deb
This has happened with several packages that I have tried to create now.
Only once have I successfully made and then installed a package.
I get the same error on two different machines as well.

Could you give me a little more info on your bug report #18511 please. Are
you able to reproduce this with a current version of dpkg? If so could you
send me an example of the directory you are trying to build (tar.gz of the
directory would be fine, small please), so I can try to reproduce this and
be sure it's not a problem in the setup (note, I've tried building packages
this way a lot of times, with no problems).
Thanks,
Ben
