I am trying to install debian 1.3.1 on a kapok laptop with Pentium 166 Mhz,
Trident Cyber 9385, 32 MB RAM, 3 PCMCIA slots, ESS AudioDrive sound card.
I downloaded and created rescue floppy (1.44) from debian ftp site.
After first <ENTER> at the boot: prompt, while linux is probing
PCI hardware, it hangs with this message:
Now booting the kernel
Console: 16 point font, 400 scans
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25, 1 virtual console (max 63)
pcibios_init : BIOS32 Service Directory structure at 0x000ec050
pcibios_init : BIOS32 Service Directory entry at 0xee600
pcibios_init : PCI BIOS revision 2.10 entry at 0x000ee63e
Probing PCI Hardware.
Warning : Unknown PCI device (1039:5107). Please read
include/linux/pci.h"
I try searching DejaNews, saw someone post the the same problem (redhat 5)
on comp.os.linux.setup. Unfortunately, I can't find any reply to the
message.
Can someone help?

Many laptops do strange things with port A20. Have you tried using the
rescue disc for Tecras (in disks-i396/current/special/tecra/ )?
Thanks,
