Yes, there are still some problem with overriding the defaults.  Which
version of fvwm2 are you using?  You can find out by running:
  dpkg -s fvwm2

The latest version is 2.0.46-BETA-3, but 2.0.46-BETA-2 has been out
for a bit and is probably the more widespread.

Yes, I can reproduce this.  The options for setting the non-focused
for and back colours work ok, though.  Strange.

The standard Debian system.fvwm2rc doesn't configure FvwmWinList at
all - so there shouldn't be any problems with being unable to override
something, since there's nothing to override.

Yes, I agree this is a problem.  Again, FvwmIconMan isn't configured
by Debian, it's entirely up to you.

I suppose what I'm saying is that these are problems in the upstream
fvwm2, not necessarily with Debian :)

I'll forward your comments to the fvwm2 maintainers.
