Subject: bootdisk makes vertical lines on laptop screen
Date: Thu, 14 May 1998 14:10:01 +0200 (MET DST)
Package: bootdisk
Version: 2.0

Instead of displaying 'Loading linux...' after root.bin was loaded, I
see vertical lines of several colors when booting from the rescuedisk
(even with the tecra-disk). The screen color changes a few seconds
after that, but the system seems to hang.

BTW: tecra-rescue-disk from Debian 1.3.0 works fine, but it's very
nasty to install the new base system with the 1.3 disks...

I am using Debian 2.0 (hamm) with the 1440 disks from 1998-04-14. The
laptop is a Dell Latitude XP475D with onboard graphics Cirrus Logic
GD7543 (640x480).

Best regards,
	Rene

I suspect it's a bug in syslinux. May you try the recently uploaded
v2.0.6 disks? You may find them at ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-incoming

These bugs have been closed in potato boot-floppies. In some cases,
they are syslinux problems , which was fixed in the potato syslinux
(you can make slink boot-floppies using potato syslinux, btw).
