Subject: dpkg: README.compile says you need gawk
Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 17:14:54 +0200 (CEST)
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.4.0.22
Severity: wishlist

The file README.compile says that you need gawk to compile the package.
I have done a grep gawk `find . -type f`

and the only occurrence (other than README.compile, of course :-) was
inside a C comment in lib/database.c, so it seems that gawk is not needed
anymore. Any awk will serve. Since awk is now "essential", this package
may be removed from the list of needed packages.

BTW: gettext is now in main, so the comment saying it's in experimental
may be already removed.

Thanks.
