Hi,
The delete key deletes the character to the left of the cursor.
According to debian policy, paragraph 3.7 (Keyboard configuration), the
delete key should delete to the right.

As the lynx-ssl code comes from lynx, can you please verify, if the
problem is also present in lynx and reassign the bug?

Yes, it seems to happen in lynx as well. Sorry about that, I meant to change
the bug header before I sent it. Oh well.. :)

Well, that's the documented "Line Editor" behavior, see the included
help files. If Debian changes that, the text there should also be
changed.
In upstream 2.8.3dev.1 and up, there is a new "Bash-like Binding" for
which the Remove key (aka "delete") acts as {you,debian users,debian policy}
expect (assuming mapping of the key isn't messed up at some other level).
Possibly it should be changed accordingly for the other bindings, too.

This bug still exists in 2.8.4-2.
Since it is a policy violation, I'll upgrade it
to "serious".
