Well, i'm not that good, but I won't step down from the challenge....

how does one go about writing a kernel driver? What language are we talking here? Put it this way: I have no idea how to do it, but I want to learn.

I sense its the proper attitude to have in this environment. :)

By first writing a Linux kernel driver for Mac floppy drives. After this,
it should be a piece of cake:

mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy would mount a DOS format floppy.
