Q: updating local ftp-mirror
Hi,
i did'nt find appropriate documentation on my problem and no hints in
the debian-mirrors archive (there are no messages newer than Aug. 2000):
I have a local ftp-mirror (potato 2.2.0a, woody both debian and
debian-non-US) on my local hard disk. I mirrored it last year via NFS
in the university. I used a script with one-liners like this one:
find linux/mirrors/debian-non-US -depth |egrep -iv "/slink/|/sid/|-sparc|_sparc|/sparc|\.sparc|sparc\.|sparc/|sparc-|sparc_|-m68k|_m68k|/m68k|\.m68k|m68k\.|m68k/|m68k-|m68k_|-powerpc|_powerpc|/powerpc|\.powerpc|powerpc\.|powerpc/|powerpc-|powerpc_|-arm|_arm|/arm|\.arm|arm\.|arm/|arm-|arm_|-alpha|_alpha|/alpha|\.alpha|alpha\.|alpha/|alpha-|alpha_"|cpio -dump $2/mirrors/debian-non-US
to filter for i386 relevant files only.
Now i want to go[1] to university once more and update my mirrors. These
are my problems:
- how to avoid having different versions of the same package on my hard
disk? Is there a script which removes old versions?
- how to update a pre-testing woody mirror?
- are proposed updates and security updates part of
...debin/dists/... ?
- is there a better way of filtering i386-only relevant files?
Any help and pointers wellcome.
Ciao, Gregor
[1] Yes. I go to the university, mount my hard disk on a local
computer and update the mirror via LAN/NFS. My modem line is extremly
slow.
