Thank you very much. How did you get that impression? If you think my
decisions are not technically sound I invite you to take over my
packages and do better. I have to say I am really pissed by this mail.
Please tell me when I made a decision which was not technically sound.
I would really like to learn. And if nobody tells me what I did wrong
I will not become better.

I agree. But this bug will not remove /usr/local if any files or directories
are in there. Actually it is a dpkg bug. Whoever is at fault I do not really
care. If somebody is tracking unstable he should expect to run into little
problems sometimes. And if a symlink /usr/local is removed you are able
to fix that easily and it is not a hidden problem.
If the problem were more easily missed or if there is a real data loss
I would have fixed it no matter what it takes. But I don't see such a
big problem here and I do not want to spend my time for something so
minor.
If you think a patch for this is urgently needed please submit it to the
BTS and I will get it in ASAP.
