Debians icke-USA-paket

Innan Debian 3.1 släpptes, lade USA:s lagar restriktioner på export av vissa försvarsartiklar vilka, tyvärr, omfattade vissa sorters kryptografisk mjukvara. Bland annat PGP och SSH landade i denna kategori. Det var dock lagligt att importera sådan mjukvara till USA.

För att hindra någon från att ta onödiga risker med avseende på dessa lagar, fanns vissa Debianpaket endast tillgängliga från en plats i Leiden, Nederländerna, fram till Debian 3.1, som innehåller denna mjukvara tack vare förändringar i USA:s lagar.

Du bör därför inte behöva non-US-arkiven, såvida du inte använder en version av Debian från innan Debian 3.1.

Debians icke-USA-spegelplatser

Speglar av debian-non-US är normalt belägna utanför USA. Om de finns i USA ska de registreras med USA:s myndigheter.
