Erik Sjölund och Devin Carraway upptäckte att synaesthesia, ett program för att representera ljud visuellt, läser användarstyrd konfigurations- och ljudmixarfiler med förhöjda privilegier. Det var därför möjligt att läsa godtyckliga filer.
För den stabila utgåvan (Woody) har detta problem rättats i version 2.1-2.1woody3.
För uttestningsutgåvan (Sarge) och den instabila utgåvan (Sid) förekommer inte detta problem eftersom synaesthesia inte längre installeras setuid root.
