Flera utifrån nåbara sårbarheter har upptäckts i nätverkstrafikanalysatorn Wireshark, vilka kan leda till exekvering av godtycklig kod eller överbelastning. Projektet Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures identifierar följande problem:

CVE-2009-2560
En NULL-pekaravreferering hittades i RADIUS-dissekeraren.
CVE-2009-3550
En NULL-pekaravreferering hittades i DCERP/NT-dissekeraren.
CVE-2009-3829
Ett heltalsspill upptäcktes i ERF-tolkaren.

Denna uppdatering innehåller också rättelser för tre mindre problem (CVE-2008-1829, CVE-2009-2562, CVE-2009-3241), som var schemalagda till nästa punktuppdatering av den stabila utgåvan. Dessutom har CVE-2009-1268 rättats för Etch. Eftersom denna säkerhetsuppdatering gavs ut innan punktuppdateringen släpptes, har rättelserna inkluderats.

För den gamla stabila utgåvan (Etch) har detta problem rättats i version 0.99.4-5.etch.4.

För den stabila utgåvan (Lenny) har detta problem rättats i version 1.0.2-3+lenny7.

För den instabila utgåvan (Sid) har dessa problem rättats i version 1.2.3-1.
