- Security database references:
- In the Debian bugtracking system: Bug 1001478.
In Mitre's CVE dictionary: CVE-2021-44228.
- More information:
Chen Zhaojun of Alibaba Cloud Security Team discovered that JNDI features used in configuration, log messages, and parameters do not protect against attacker controlled LDAP and other JNDI related endpoints. An attacker who can control log messages or log message parameters can execute arbitrary code loaded from LDAP servers when message lookup substitution is enabled.
For Debian 9 stretch, this problem has been fixed in version 2.7-2+deb9u1.
We recommend that you upgrade your apache-log4j2 packages.
