Subject: netstd and perl 5.005 upgrade
Date: Wed, 2 Apr 1997 09:14:59 +0200
Package: netstd
Version: 3.07-7slink.1

The postinst script of netstd does use DebianNet.pm which is placed
in /usr/lib/perl5 but the module won't be found with perl5.005 (that
do not have /usr/lib/perl5 in his @INC). That's why I asked the
maintainer of netbase to move it to /usr/lib/perl5/Debian and to
add a « use lib '/usr/lib/perl5/Debian' » in the scripts where it's
needed.

Please add the same line at the beginning of your postint script or
your package won't install with perl5.005

That way, your script will never break (it'll work with both perl5.004 and
perl5.005).

You can take a look at bug #35236 for more information.

Thanks.

[ I'm ccing the netbase maintainer for his information ]

Hi,

you never responded to my bug report, I just wanted to make you notice
that it is a one line patch to add the correct line in each perl script
where you use DebianNet.pm (the line is « use lib '/usr/lib/perl5/Debian' »).

Furthermore, if you add this line before DebianNet.pm has been
moved, there won't be any problems as perl will still find the
module in /usr/lib/perl5.

So please correct this bug in the next release.

Thanks,

This will be solved since before potato is released, netstd will disappear.
