Re: Announcing xorriso-0.3.6

Hi,

thanks, Joerg, for the hint about Apple AA.

An examination of
  http://developer.apple.com/technotes/fl/fl_36.html
reveils that AAIP fields and Apple fields can be
distinguished only by a hairbreadth.
There is a legal Apple field with SystemUseId 1 which
nearly could be confused with AAIP. It has a fixed
length of 7, whereas the shortest possible first
AAIP field has length 9. Follow-up fields can be
shorter, but they are preceeded by a longer AAIP
field.

This is too close to be reasonable.
I will change the AAIP field signature from AA
to some other name. libisofs will stay able to
recognize its old AA fields (by hair) but will
issue only the new ones.

Now there is the question what field signature
to choose.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Joerg: your advise would be appreciated with this.

Is "AL" a known field name ?

I collected from SUSP, RRIP, kernel sources,
"Apple Extensions to ISO 9660", mkisofs/rock.c, ...

SUSP: CE , PD , SP , ST , ER , ES
RRIP: PX , PN , SL , NM , CL , PL , RE , TF , SF , (RR)
mkisofs: XA , ZF
Apple ISO: AA , BA
Google : AS (Amiga) ,

-------------------------------------------------------------

One may wonder why i care for "Apple ISO 9660" which
is not supported by any open source kernel and is
declared "Legacy Document" by Apple Inc.

Well, it seems to be the ancestor of SUSP, RRIP and
also of AAIP. One should show respect to its seniority.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
