program writing to /dev/ttyS0 & LPRng

Hi,

I am writing what amounts to a custom driver for an Imagewriter printer
attached to the serial port of my SE30. However, I cannot seem to send data
to /dev/ttyS0 unless logged in as root.

What is the best solution?

Changing permissions on /dev/ttyS0 or some other?

Also, having set up a printer at home on my PC by installing the LPRng
package, I attempted to do the same on the SE30. When installing the package
on the PC it ran a set up script and made everything straightforward. On the
Mac, no setup script was run. So what to do next?
