Usually a CTRL-C will allow the startup scripts to continue after this
point.  Then when you can successfully log in go to the /etc/init.d
directory and disable the hwclockfirst.sh and hwclock.sh startup
scripts.  I would then suggest using an ntp server to keep the clock
accurate.
