Many in one

Now i succesfully got my machine working (with
1MB cache), but i cannot do it with
debian now:

Why it's going like that (it's only
with kernel 2.0.35 i compiled yesterday):

Script started on Thu Aug 27 11:58:29 1998
alpha:~# ping localhost
PING alpha (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Operation not permitted
ping: wrote alpha 64 chars, ret=-1
ping: sendto: Operation not permitted
ping: wrote alpha 64 chars, ret=-1

--- alpha ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

It's not only when ping, but i cannot do anything with the net.

Another problem

alpha:~# dpkg --pending --configure
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of ncurses3.0:
 ncurses3.0 depends on libc5; however:
  Package libc5 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing ncurses3.0 (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libc6-doc21:
 libc6-doc21 depends on libc6 (= 2.0.95-1.1); however:
  Package libc6 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing libc6-doc21 (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 ncurses3.0
 libc6-doc21

Where is libc5 and libc6

And :

alpha:~# man-db
Processing manual pages under /usr/man...
mandb: can't create index cache /var/catman/475: Bad file descriptor
mandb: warning: can't update index cache /var/catman/475: Bad file descriptor
Processing manual pages under /usr/local/man...
mandb: can't create index cache /var/catman/local/475: Bad file descriptor
mandb: warning: can't update index cache /var/catman/local/475: Bad file descriptor
Processing manual pages under /usr/X11R6/man...
mandb: can't create index cache /var/catman/X11R6/475: Bad file descriptor
mandb: warning: can't update index cache /var/catman/X11R6/475: Bad file descriptor
0 man subdirectories contained newer manual pages.
0 manual pages and 0 stray cats were added.

The permisions and owner is set to 755,man.root on /var/catman and subdirs.

It's almost surely libdb2 problem, because my program which use libdb2
doesn't work too.

alpha:~# exit

And the last about gimp and arena:

When starting gimp:

** ERROR **: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)
  serial 1078 error_code 10 request_code 129 minor_code 3

g_error: recursed!

And it's unusable.

When viewing HTML's with arena, i've got beautiful black pictures
on black background, but html is probably well loaded (i can
use scrollbars, the window title changes to html title etc.)
