ldd dumps core?

Any body else have the problem that ldd dumps core?

$ ldd /bin/bash
/usr/bin/ldd: line 138: 31816 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) ${RTLD}
--verify "$file"
        not a dynamic executable

This is on a 2.1.126 system...
