What I use, which works for me is the following:
[stewart@dystopia ~]# cat /etc/exports
/home/user1/final 10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0(ro)
/home/ftp/pub/rh-6.1-srpms 10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0(ro)
/home/ftp/pub/rh-6.1-updates 10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0(rw,no_root_squash)
