I have a dual PII 333 with 128 MB of RAM (single SDRAM) which I built myself.
The motherboard is a Tyan S1696 DLU Thunder 2 ATX. One of its features is an
onboard AIC-7895 chipset. I am trying to install slink off of a CD I burned
myself using the pre-built binary images (don't recall ftp site I obtained them
from, either U. Michigan or the one in Missouri). The cdrom is a Pioneer DR-U16S
with a SCSI interface, and the hard drive is a Seagate Barracuda (OEM for
COMPAQ). The chipset has two channels, and while the kernel is loading, it sees
the chipset and starts wiht the (scsi0) .... (scsi1) ..... where it figures out
what each channel can do, then it hangs before sensing any attached devices. I
have tried both aic7xxx=no_probe and aic7xxx=no_reset and neither help. I have
no network car or PCMCIA devices. The MB also has an onboard Yamaha OPL3-SA3/4
audio chipset. There is an ISA USR 33.6 Sportster modem and a PCI 4MB Matrox
Mystique 220. There is also a SCSI zip drive. All SCSI devices are on the same
channel (channel A I believe). Lastly there is a regular floppy drive (Teac I
believe) and a Western Digital 2.5 GB IDE hard drive. Please help. The root.bin
image doesn't seem to boot on my machine either. I used dd to copy onto a floppy
and then tried to boot off of it. The BIOS found a bootable floppy, then hung
there (never even saw a boot prompt).

The bug you have reported has been fixed in the boot-floppies released
for potato, currently the unstable debian distribution. If you get a
chance, please test these boot-floppies for the problem you reported.
We know of a number of other problems in unstable, however, so beware.

* Changes made by Martin Schulze <joey@debian.org> to provide proper
German disk images. Details follow:
- Added support for a creator != maintainer, main Makefile and
rootdisk.sh
- Added detection for modules in main makefile since both minix
support and loopback support is sufficient when provided as modules
and kerneld/kmod
- Extracted MSG_BOOT_MESSAGE_TEXT from all lang_<lang>.h files into a
boot_message file. This file will be converted by rootdisk.sh to
