Package: installation-reports Version: 2.35 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hello Recent kernels provides some DMI information in /sys/class/dmi/id/. This could be used by report-hw (and installation-report) in the case where dmidecode isn't installed (tiny Debian installation, etc). I've attached a simple proof-of concept patch. Here's a sample output : dmiinfo:uevent: MODALIAS=dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr79ETD2WW(2.12):bd04/12/2007:svnLENOVO:pn1952W5R:pvrThinkPadT60:rvnLENOVO:rn1952W5R:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmiinfo:bios_vendor: LENOVO dmiinfo:bios_version: 79ETD2WW (2.12 ) dmiinfo:bios_date: 04/12/2007 dmiinfo:sys_vendor: LENOVO dmiinfo:product_name: 1952W5R dmiinfo:product_version: ThinkPad T60 dmiinfo:board_vendor: LENOVO dmiinfo:board_name: 1952W5R dmiinfo:board_version: Not Available dmiinfo:board_asset_tag: dmiinfo:chassis_vendor: LENOVO dmiinfo:chassis_type: 10 dmiinfo:chassis_version: Not Available dmiinfo:chassis_asset_tag: No Asset Information dmiinfo:modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr79ETD2WW(2.12):bd04/12/2007:svnLENOVO:pn1952W5R:pvrThinkPadT60:rvnLENOVO:rn1952W5R:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmiinfo:wakeup: Franklin -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash installation-report depends on no packages. If you know, that the issue you reported (and gets closed here) is still existing in recent installation images, please file a new report for that! round 6 (for Debian 6 / 7 / 8 ): https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=728238 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744201 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=749672 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755686 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=758167 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=766398 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=773711 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=783263 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=801273 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=820463 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=831999 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=845110 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=862500 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=876866 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=891113 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=895112 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=946319 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=958835 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684777 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=485902 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=379972 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=528604 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=570995 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=600621 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=620012 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=628091 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=636483 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=672458 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=681388 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=705450 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=706489 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=770012 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=771190 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=742101 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=774980 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=780172 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=783066 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=842626 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=881386 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=885883 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=919606 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=968086 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=850902 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=855074 -- Holger Wansing <hwansing@mailbox.org> PGP-Fingerprint: 496A C6E8 1442 4B34 8508 3529 59F1 87CA 156E B076
