【挽救 /var】 [3]LinuxWorld.com 的 Nicholas Petreley 因为不小心备份了
[4]错的分割区（partition），导致他的 Debian 系统 /var 目录不见了。非常
重要的套件资讯全都放在 /var/lib/dpkg 下面，尤其是在 /var/lib/dpkg/status

【强制透过 Debconf 和使用者互动？】 Adrian Bunk [16]建议修改 Debian 规章，
要求所有套件安装的命令稿（maintainer scripts）和使用者间的互动都要透过
[17]debconf。这样可以让像自动更新数台电脑一类的事情简单些。Petter Reinholdtsen
列出了他遇到的没有使用 debconf 的问题[18]套件。

【MingW32 可以在所有的平台上执行？】 因为一些非关技术的原因，[19]MingW32
套件现在只能在 IA-32 平台上执行。不过，Steven G. Johnson [20]说他对编译的
程序做了一些修改，并在 PowerPC 平台上成功地[21]编译这个套件。他强调在这些
非 x86 平台上执行的程式码是由 gcc 和 binutils 负责编译的。除非 GCC 有 bug
，不然这个套件应该可以在所有的平台上执行。Ron Lee 稍后表示他会补上供各平台
使用的 MingW32 套件。

【GNOME 下的反锯齿功能】 Bill Moseley [22]发现他的系统中使用了反锯齿字型
（antialiased fonts），而他希望把这个功能关掉。另一方面，Michael Sullivan
则是[23]注意到反锯齿功能最近有重大的更新。启用反锯齿后，字看起来较为平滑
，但对有些人来说，这个功能让字较为模糊而不易阅读，甚至会让眼睛不太舒服。
GTK 2.2 支援字型反锯齿的功能，而且可以用设定环境变数（environment
variable）的方式把这个功能[24]关掉。

【把套件的设定方式文件化】 Andreas Tille 提到在一些特殊的情况或硬体环
境下，一些套件必须特别设定之后才能并存于系统中。他[25]认为应该把这些资
料收集起来，整理成为某种型式的知识库（knowledge base）。这知识库应该是
以 Wiki、[26]DDP 文件或是资料库的[27]形式，由社群成员共同参与写作。

【将文件独立包成套件】 Adam Heath 因为磁碟空间快[28]用完了而注意到他的
/usr/share/doc 中竟然有 380 MB 的文件。Adrian von Bidder [29]认为如果
套件中的文件资料要占不少的磁碟空间，就应该把它独立出来，另外包成一个套
件，且这个文件套件和原套件间不该有相依性。Jochen Voss 将这些想法整理成
具体的[30]建议。

【Glibc 的许可证有问题】 Johan Walles [31]说 [32]Bug#171659 中指出 glibc
中部份程式码来自 Sun Microsystems, Inc。Brian Carlson 说它的授权方式禁止
将这部份单独散布，而这不符合 [33]DFSG 第一条的要求。而且因为它不允许在修
改后以修改版的形式散布，也和 DFSG 第三条相抵触。Jeff Bailey 正和 glibc
官方[34]合作重新撰写这个部份的程式。
