引 New Oxford American Dictionary 第二版（即 Mac OS X 里的Dictionary.app 以及亚马逊 Kindle 内建的英英字典），Universal 一词的其中一个意思是：

(of a tool or machine) adjustable to or appropriate for allrequirements; not restricted to a single purpose or position.
