Hi all, Debian 7 (wheezy) has moved into the long-term security support period. The Debian security and release teams will no longer issue updates and wheezy has been turned over to the LTS team. https://lists.debian.org/msgid-search/571DF08C.4010507@debian.org https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425 https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Wheezy This means that wheezy will: * recieve support from the LTS team until to 31 May 2018. * no longer recieve point releases (after the final point release, which will be at a date yet to be determined) * have the list of supported architectures restricted to amd64/i386 and possibly armel/armhf * need to have compromises (like new upstream versions) made in order to provide security support in a timely manner. In particular, the default Java will be switched to OpenJDK 7 on 2016-06-26 * reduce or terminate support for some packages; In particular OpenJDK 6 support is to be terminated on 2016-06-26 & Tomcat 6 on 2016-12-31 For a complete list of packages with reduced support, see: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/debian-security-support.git/tree/security-support-ended.deb7 Derivatives relying on wheezy security updates for less common architectures will need to build and test the fixes themselves. Derivatives who will not yet migrate to Debian jessie are encouraged to help out with the LTS project through developer time and or funding. https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Development https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Funding -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
