annoying updating alternatives messages



Do we really need these messages?  I find they really pollute the screen
with useless information.  Alternatives are great and powerful, but a file
describing how to use them is better than a "see man ln".

I'd file a bug against dpkg, but I thought I'd check here first in case I'm
just being freaky :-)
