I agree. My comment wasn't about security; in general, I think it is
more convenient to put LILO in the root's boot sector than in the MBR.

For one thing, if you install any other operating systems, all you need
to do to get LILO back is change your active partition. No boot floppies
required.

I actually consider MBR to be a feature. For some it's a risk; remove
it and be happy.. no need to force those settings on the rest of us.
