Why do I get this stupid message when I log into certain servers: Warning: Server lies about size of server host key: actual size is 1023 bits vs. announced 1024. Warning: This may be due to an old implementation of ssh. Not very backward-compatible, is it? In some environments it's desirable to have the software behave the same on every platform; even if it's buggy, the bugs need to be consistent. The behavior of openssh is *not* 100% identical to the behavior of ssh. Until it is, there's a place for both. (I was also less than amused when the location of the config files in ssh moved to ssh-nonfree. What was the point of that gratuitous incompatibility?) -- Mike Stone
