I added the entry as listed in the kernel docs too. But I cannot get a
kernel newer than 2.3.47 to start. e2fsck always bails out telling me it
cannot read the superblock. Could anyone please tell me if there are more
changes I have to make to my system (up-to-date potato).

It seems, however, that my /etc/fstab entry does not harm 2.2.14 much.
