help needed, shared libs without pic code in debian packages

Hello,

trying to build the debian packages for jabber i have a problem in
libetherx, lintian (the debian pakage checker) tells me:

E: libetherx1: shlib-with-non-pic-code usr/lib/libetherx.so.1.0.0
N:
N: The listed shared libraries contain object code that was compiled
N: without -fPIC. All object code in shared libraries should be
N: recompiled separately from the static libraries with the -fPIC option.
N:
N: Another common mistake that causes this problem is linking with `gcc
N: -Wl,-shared'' instead of `gcc -shared''.
N:
N: Refer to Policy Manual, section 4.2 for details.

Unfortunatelly, since libetherx uses libtool and configure it is hard to
find out where the problem is. The other lib i build (libxode) works well.
Have anyone an idee where the problem can be solved?
