does anything state out that groups/users have to be defined by name, and not UID/GID? i didn't find anything on this when i searched though the site. the problem is that there are different uids and gids on two different systems (solaris and Debian), and i need to make these match.. before i start changing anything i need to make sure that after upgrades the system will be alive... -- get a life, get the second one free...
