I'd also be very much in favor of a scheme like this, because it could be easily
tweaked into netenv (or its replacement) so that the init.d scripts could see
if *this configuration* needs postfix today or if we want lpd or xntpd this run.
For the "mobile-laptop" users this would make configuration much easier,
without the hassle of modifying the init.d scripts.
