Sorry, possibly contraction of:

ROFL = Rolling On/Over Floor Laughing

and

LMAO = Laughing My Ass Off

My grandfather's favorite joke at dinner table was: "You want a roll?",
wink, "There's the floor." ... very funny to a five year old who adored
his grandfather. (who could hear the implied "want to" in the slurred
pronunciation "wann'a" and therefore got the joke)
