I'm currently about one third of the way through writing the generic
dependency handling code for dpkg which I ought to have written long
ago.

When it is done and tested I'll replace all the other dependency
checking code in dpkg, and implement Breaks.

I don't have an ETA for this.  It'll be ready when it's ready.
