I would suggest that an upgrade workaround be documented in the README and
leave it at that.
In any case, http://www.netgod.net/ says:

Release Manager proposes adding the latest X packages to 2.0 at
the last second, for i386 only, fixing 1 of 3 bugs. The other 2
against cfingerd are still unsubstantiated. There are 100 people
on #debian.
So I guess this is discussed and decided on IRC.
