Probably (hopefully) this is why Richard didn't report the C++ packages.
You didn't upgrade your libstdc++ (you wrote this in a private message),
and it seems like it's libstdc++ in your case that is looking for
the __register_frame_info symbol, not update-menus. Anyway, the
menu version you talk about (-17) should not be affected, as it's
linked with libc6-2.0.7u-4 (If I'm not mistaken, that version
of libc6 wasn't affected by the __register_frame_info problem).

Anyway it's probably clear: I've read loads of emails about this
subject on debian-devel, but my memory is rather bad. So, I'm not
sure of any of the things I write above, and would like to recive
info on whether what I write is rubbish or maybe true.

(Anyway, I've already sent another email about this to debian-devel).
