Why not go back a step (or two) and have the source online, with
scripts to make it look like the files, debs, etc. are online.

Hmmm, I wonder if those companies that build you a box to spec
are interested in providing the resources for a build-it from
the OS and hardware up project.

How far along would such a project need to be before they
would become interested?
Could Debian handle the `master plan' approach required(?)
for such an undertaking?
