I have just started learning perl, and I thought it might be interesting to
write some form of system configuration tool using CGI. So I was wondering
if a) there are any such projects going on in debian, b) if not would it be
a good idea, and c) does anyone have any suggestions for something to
configure (preferably something small and simple ;)

You could take a look at my pppnetmgr, which is written in Perl. It's
the administration part of my Debian-based PPP Net Connector system to
allow small LANs to access the Internet through a single modem using
PPP masquerading. You can find it on my computer at
	ftp://pfaffben.user.msu.edu/pppconn
You could add features to it if you were interested.
