Your logic seems good to me - and I too have often been unhappy with the log
rotations of debian (the first thing I usually do is increase the number of
saved log files on most systems - sometimes 7 is not enough).

Why is it, however, that we even need to clarify that "Redhat developed xyz"?
Since it is GPL it really doesn't matter who developed it - if it will make
debian better then why not use it?  Believe it or not people, we are not in
competition with redhat.  We just provide another system that some people
prefer to use, plus we have some different ideas on how we want things to be.  
If redhat ever meets my needs better I will probably use it.

So, I say yes - lets look at using this great program that a member of
_our_ community has written.  Especially since debian will be the better for
it.
