kill scrips?

Hi,
i installed slink recently on my Alpha.
It went very smoothly and runs like a charm - thanks!

I only have one question: Why are there no killscripts
in the rc.[23..] dirs for the corresponding S??scripts?
In SuSE i often did an init 2 for console mode and after
some tweaking init 3 for xdm again.
This doesn't work because e.g. xdm isn't stopped.
Was there any reason for doing it this way or did i mess
up my installation anyhow?
