That's what I do.
In fact, on a couple of systems I have /tmp symlinked to /var/tmp to
prevent the root partition from filling up (I have /var on a separate
filesystem).

I (tmpreaper maintainer) wouldn't have any problems with doing so.
Anyone else have arguments against doing so?
